Feng Ling (b.1963, Heilongjiang, China) is currently based between Beijing and Los Angeles. She graduated from the oil painting department of Harbin Art College in 1990 and then proceeded to study oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
In 2003, Feng was propelled into prominence after establishing the Fengjing Art and Design Studio in the 798 Art District of Beijing. Whilst establishing her own unique style of painting and design, Feng began navigating the world of fashion. She quickly attracted attention in the field of fashion design as her unique style quickly became a symbol of the “New China Style” in the 798 Art District.
Despite her passion for fashion, Feng’s enthusiasm for painting has never stopped. Evident in her work exhibited in Sworn Sisters, she demonstrates her artistic dedication and in-depth knowledge of traditional Chinese aesthetics by paying homage to Chinese traditional ink, fabrics and incense, whilst employing the use of found objects.
