Gao Ping (b.1974, Shandong) currently lives and works in Beijing. She graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997. At CAFA, she studied both Chinese traditional painting style as well as oil painting. She uses these techniques with expert precision to create inner conversations in her work and creates a complex interwoven relationship between eastern and western art histories and philosophies, but a visual language that is entirely her own.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including multiple times in Australia, collected by both private and public collectors worldwide. She is featured in Luise Guest’s ‘Half the Sky: Conversations with women artists in China’ as a strong leading female artist in China. Gao Ping’s first solo exhibition in Australia, Works on Paper, was displayed in 2013 in Perth. Vermilion Art exhibited her work in previous group exhibitions such as Paper Story (2018) and Two Voices (2016).
