Yi Hui (b.1980, Guilin, China) is a photographer whose practice centres on female identity, family relationships, and the lived realities of ethnic minority communities. Based in Guilin, where she also teaches in the Arts Department of Guilin Normal University, Yi approaches photography with acute observation and intuition, exploring metaphor and the subtle relationships between people, memory, and environment.
Her work has been recognised through numerous national photography platforms and awards, including shortlisting for the Three Shadows Photography Award and the Fengniao Young Photographer Promotion Program Award. She has also received the Potential Newcomer Award at the 4th National Youth Photography Festival and the “Redpoll Trophy” Photographic works Award at the 9th Dali International Photography Exhibition. Her work was selected for the 10th Annual Photographic Rankings of China.
