Li Jin is featured recently in SMH’s art column by acclaimed critic John McDonald in the latest review of The Way We Eat at the Art Gallery of NSW, where four of contemporary brush-and-ink master Li Jin’s works are on view.
“Li Jin’s small paintings — except the bizarre Banquet for the times (2020) — present small, psychological dramas enacted around a meal or a cup of tea. In The world is yours, he shows a couple staring, with fish eyes, at a table laden with fish. It’s a reflection on the human condition, as they don’t seem to know whether they’re going to eat or be eaten.” — John McDonald
The Way We Eat is on view at AGNSW until 2022.
